Sushi Tengoku

Sushi Tengoku might not be a big restaurant, but every customer who has dined in Sushi Tengoku always leaves the place with a big grin on their faces. Sushi Tengoku is definitely a must-stop-by restaurant for any sushi eater in Sydney!

The first time I dined in Sushi Tengoku, I was very appaled by the crowd inside the restaurant. One can definitely tell the place itself doesn't look that great. Interior looks very mediocre, and I could only see maximum of two waitresses running around taking orders and serving the foods the entire time I was there. To be honest, my first impression of Sushi Tengoku wasn't very great. However, as soon as my foods have arrived on the table, I was quick to change my mind!

I'm not a fan of wasabi. In fact, I despise wasabi with all of my heart, despite knowing the goodness and importance of eating wasabi to kill of the germs when eating raw foods, especially sashimi. That is why, when I ordered my foods to the waitress, I was very pleased when she gave me the option to seperate the wasabi from the foods that originally should have included wasabi in it. This option makes it very convenient for people like me or for the people who loves to eat wasabi when enjoying their meals. It certainly saved me the hassle from having to scrape the wasabis from each and every single foods before I could enjoy them!

The first food that came to my table was Asaburi Oyster. The oysters were very soft and sweet, and the rice below the oysters were firm and sweet as well! The mayonnaise sauce has to be my favourite part! It spreads in my mouth as soon as I placed it on my tongue as its slightly creamy sourness complements the sweetness of the oysters. I lost count as to how many I have eaten the oysters that night, but they were really addicitve!

The next food that I thoroughly enjoy was Asaburi Salmon. As the name implies, the way the food was cooked was very similar to Asaburi Oyster, only with salmons as the topping. The flavour of salmon in this dish was not very rich, but still has the same soft and chewy texture as Asaburi Oyster. I would, however, prefer Asaburi Oyster over Asaburi Salmon if i have to make a decision between the two!

My last menu, gyoza, was very pleasantly surprising! Unlike any other gyozas that I have eaten before, Sushi Tengoku's gyoza resembles more towards a xiao long bao: both dishes contain a spoon size of soup and pork meat as the fillings! However, unlike xiao long baos, Sushi Tengoku's gyoza have a thin yet crispy texture for its outer layer. The taste of each gyoza is not that intense, allowing the consumer to finish all 7 gyozas without having to feel tired of it! Perfect for your afternoon snack!

For drinks, my and my companions were given ocha, or tea, as complementary instead of tap water! As a tea-addict, I was surely pleased by the complementary beverage! Customers can even ask for re-fills without having to pay additional charges!

QueTo-Korean Restaurant in MQ Shopping Center

QueTo? The first time when I was looking for a place to have my lunch, this store attracted me. Actually, I was attracted by the name of the store........ Just out of curiosity, I went into the store. There was no paper based menu, you could see all the dishes with a specific number on a big board. When you are ready to order, what you do is just tell the number you choose to the server.

(It's really busy during lunch time, you may not able to find a place to seat, so I suggest you guys come a bit later if you wanna try it )
I ordered number 42 and my friend got number 35, mine was kind of like spicy seafood noodle(with soup), my friend's order was also seafood noodle, but with BBQ sauce. Seafood included prown, squid, octopus and crab stick. Besides seafood, there were also some kinds of vegetables-broccoli, cabbage and some other veges.
(This is the BBQ seafood noodle~)

(This is number 42, spicy seafood noodle)

After taking the order, it will take 2 to 5 minutes, then you number will be callled. I tried the spicy seafood noodle, it's pretty good, especially the soup, not very spicy but very tasty. My friend told me that BBQ seafood noodle was kind of sweet, but also very decilious.(Honesly, I don't like sweety food.).

Anyway,I strongly recommend those people who like Korean style food, you won't regret that!!!

Food in Night Market- Chinatown

Do you guys know that there is a night market in Chinatown every Friday? Basically, it's a multi-cultural community market that has been very popular with the City locals and is now rapidly becoming a point of attraction in Sydney.

What I'm gonna talk about today is the food in night market. There are many types of food including Chinese, Japanese, and other countries' food.

The First store I want to talk about is the Chinese dumpling sotre- it got many kinds of steamed dumplings and sumai, different colors and smell. My favourite snacks are Shrimp Dumplings and Steamed Crab Dumplings. Dumplings are originated from China, made with plain flour and sometimes with the addition of prown or crab or other flavors. Dumplings is cooked by steaming or deep-frying instead of boiling. It's a way to keep the original taste.

Another store that I took into consideration is a Japanese Teriyaki  meatballs store. It's different from other sotres because you can see the whole process of making the meatballs. It's really funny to see what they were doing, the tool they use is like a screw driver,  kept rolling the meatballs up and down. There are four kinds of meatballs- prown, crab, squid and vege. Personally, I recommend prown and squid, taste really good.

If you want to eat snacks and experience different food style, Night Market is really a good choice!!!

SUMINOYA- Wanna try something new??

Suminoya has been known as an authentic charcoal grilled BBQ restaurant since 2000. It's an Japanese style resaurant, which is famous for Yakiniku-fresh, seasoned ingredients such as meat, seafood and vegetables are placed on a mesh and grilled over a direct flame.

What i want recommend today is a fairly special dish-Special Beef Tongue. Yeah, you heard me!!!! Tongue..., OMG, the first time when I saw the name i thought it was terrible. In my mind, the most weird thing i have ever eaten was snake......are you kidding!!! people can eat anything if they want......

Some pictures show the process of how to grill beef tongue:

Raw beef tongue with hot oil, together with the secret ingredients...

(All fresh beef tongue, you will get six pieces of beef tongue in each plate. To tell the truth, i'm not get used to see something raw. you can grill by yourself if you want! After 10 minutes,  sharp aroma came out, it increases people's appetite )
(Tasty and refreshing, actually it's different, that feeling was undescribe....that was good..... it's beef tongue, not bacon...)

(This is the final look of beef tongue, you can also choose some sauce if you like. Personally, I prefer no sauce, cos you can feel the original taste)

Wanna have a try? You won't forget it if you really have a taste of it. By the way, it's not expensive, only $11 per plate

You can find the resaurant at: 1 Hosking Place, Sydney, NSW 2000

Restaurant of Feelings Tian Tong- Traditional Chinese Food

Tian Tong- the name of the restaurant, is originated from a road name in ShangHai, China. Although it's a new restaurant in Australia, the reputation of it spread all over China.

What I want to recommend now are two pieces of dishes in Tian Tong:

1. Poached Sliced Beef in Spicy & Pungent Sauce

(Seems very greasy, right? But when you try it, it's really tasty and of course spicy----Don't try it if you can't handle spicy food, I'm serious!!!)

2. Shanghai Style Smoked Fish in Soy Sauce

(Someone may ask me what kind of fish is it? Well, as far as I know, it's not salmon. Wanna konw? Go and check by yourself!!!)

These two dishes are pretty good, you guys wanna start a food tour? Start from the Chinese Restaurant-Tian Tong. By the way, I'm not doing advertisment!!!!
